Letter of recommendation for the “Doer’s Guide to Wet-Plate Collodion Photography”
From Nicole Sanders of North Bend, Washington, October 9, 2020

Hi John,
I have made my way at least twice through the “Doer’s Guide” now. As someone who has worked in a lab and knows a great manual when she sees one, I have to say (as many others have already said) the “Doer’s Guide” is the mother lode of wet-plate information. It is filled with all the details and nuances that really make the difference in successful execution. I would not dare mix this Guide with any other manual’s information out there. It is a stand alone! Of course this is not new news, but just a note of appreciation for what it has done to allow others to carry out the ways of wet-plate. Likewise the accompanying videos helped immensely to get that mental imagery of the process in my head. They are a perfect addition to the Guide. Looking forward to my wet-plate adventures ahead!

Letter of appreciation for the “Just Tintypes & Ambrotypes” Workshop
From Kim Phan of Norfolk, Virginia, August 2020

Dear Mr. Coffer,
Thanks so much for everything this past weekend at CampTintype! I had such a wonderful time with you and all and on your farm. It was a real experience and I find myself already missing it! You are doing something very special and I have a ton of respect for you. There really is only one John Coffer in this world! And I feel fortunate to have learned this process the right way from the right person! I hope to be back to the farm soon.

Letter of endorsement for the “Doer’s Guide to Wet-Plate Collodion Photography” and DVD
From Cecil Hanson of Gardnerville, Nevada, January 29, 2019

Hi John,
Cecil here, I wanted to acknowledge my receipt of The Doer's Guide to Wet-Plate Photography. It's a fine example of your expertise in wet-plate and your excellent teaching skills that allows you to teach effectively. What you have created is the Bible of wet-plate. I'm still in the process of acquiring my equipment, chemitals and materials and if nothing else goes right I will always be able to say I did at least one thing right, I obtained your manual. It's amazing how you have manage to encompass all the important areas and then some. Those videos are 'knock outs' and if one is not turned on by those one must not have any blood in their veins. True Wet-Plate Porn. HA!
Seriously now you are the 'Man' and when you speak, write communicate in some fashion everyone listens!
The supplier information is fantastic. Terrific help for an old film guy like myself.
What a great area you live in as well. That part of the country with it's history and scenery is amazing. Unfortunately living in Nevada surrounded by sand and no water it's like living in a 'cat box'. People here are just happy to have the turds taken out and some new sand every now and then.
        All My Best John!
You are amazing human being, keep the faith brother.

Letter of endorsement for John's re-enactment work
From Robert Hodge of Kent, Ohio, June 8, 1992(?)

Dear Mr. Coffer,
I saw your plates at the Wilderness Re-enactments and really thought they were fantastic! As you realize there was a long waiting list for your work. What I would like to know is do you plan on being at any other large re-enactments this year? Do you plan on being at the "Killer Angels" filming in September?
